Elyashiv Family Scholarships Awarded to of ORT Braude Electrical & Electronic Engineering Students

On December 9, 2019, the coveted Elyashiv Family Scholarships were awarded to five worthy ORT Braude College students from our Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department. These annual tuition scholarships were presented for the fourth consecutive year by the Elyashiv family in memory of their late patriarch Jacob Levkovich, the noted entrepreneur and developer in the electrical industry who headed major projects that significantly changed the face of Israel. These scholarships are intended to encourage more women to enter traditionally “masculine” engineering fields, and the Elyashiv family tracks the winners’ progress until graduation. Astonishingly, at this ceremony two students received this award for the third time, while three winners received it for the first time. The deserving scholarship winners were: Maayan Ben-Nun Cohen, Lior Mazoz, Sapir Tzuk, Shachar Tzuk, and Salha Shomari. The ceremony, organized by Etti Shparberg, was attended by members of the Elyashiv family, College President Professor Arie Maharshak, Dean of Students Dr. Orna Miller, and Professor Shmuel Zaks, Head of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department. At the ceremony’s conclusion, the grateful students presented the Elyashiv family with heartfelt thank-you letters as well as a beautiful chanukiya hand-made by people with disabilities.
