B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics provides a high-level mathematical infrastructure that forms the foundation for all engineering disciplines at the College. In pursuing excellence in this mission, the faculty develops and implements innovative, state-of-the-art teaching methods.

The department’s faculty comprises research mathematicians whose achievements are internationally recognized within the global scientific community.

In addition, the department offers a three-year Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Applied Mathematics with a specialization in AI and Algorithmics, bridging theoretical excellence with real-world applications. This program emphasizes mathematical modeling and advanced problem-solving techniques, integrating core mathematics with computer science, electronics, and economics.

During your studies, you will learn how to apply mathematics to real-world challenges-from high-tech and finance to cybersecurity and artificial intelligence-by gaining a strong foundation in advanced mathematics, together with expertise in machine learning, image processing, algorithm design, computer vision, and related fields. The program trains mathematicians to lead development teams in the financial sector and advanced technology industries.

Academic and Career Pathways:

  • Dual Degree and Teaching Options: To enhance career versatility, students can combine Applied Mathematics with Software Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or Industrial Engineering and Management. There is also an option to integrate a Teaching Certificate
  • Specialized Electives: A diverse range of elective courses prepares students for careers across industry, science, and finance
  • Graduate Success: Graduates are well-equipped for research and development roles in high-tech industries or for pursuing advanced degrees at leading universities
  • Dual Certification: With Ministry of Education approval, students may concurrently earn a Teaching Certificate through the Department of Teaching

Advantages of the Program:

One of the key advantages of studying mathematics at the College is learning in small groups with personal attention from the faculty. The option for a dual degree in Engineering allows graduates to seamlessly integrate into the R&D departments of leading high-tech firms.
The faculty consists of world-renowned researchers in the field of mathematics. Outstanding students have the opportunity to conduct joint research projects.

Applied mathematics has a wide range of applications in science and engineering, such as:

  • Operations Research – Applications of linear programming, game theory, probability, and statistics
  • Economics – Applications of optimization, game theory, differential equations, and statistics
  • Computer Vision, Image Processing, and Tomography – Applications of mathematical analysis, geometry, and partial differential equations
  • Mathematical Biology and Bioinformatics – Applications of dynamical systems theory, probability, and discrete mathematics
  • Algorithmics – Based on number theory, linear algebra, and linear optimization
