Research in the Civil Engineering Department

Civil engineering is a broad and central field in the world of engineering, dealing with the design, construction and maintenance of buildings, infrastructure, and housing environments. Civil engineers are also responsible for the development of transportation systems (roads, bridges, railways), water and sewage infrastructure, public and private buildings, as well as engineering solutions adapted to the environment and social needs.
The Department of Civil Engineering at Braude conducts research on diverse topics such as the use of composite materials in construction, the mechanical behavior of soils, the development of innovative computational models for formwork design, the analysis of damaged structures based on 3D scanning and the monitoring of structural elements behavior using electrical circuits.
The field of civil engineering directly affects the quality of life of the entire population and plays an important role in dealing with global challenges such as climate change, population density and sustainable development.
