Unsaturated soils and Lateral earth pressure

Dr. Shay Nachum

My research field is geotechnical engineering, with a primary emphasis on empirical research. The main area of my work is unsaturated soils—soils located above the groundwater table; unsaturated soils is one of the key topics in geotechnical engineering and highly complex since its requires a coupled approach that considers both water flow and transport mechanisms along with the fundamental mechanical equations of stress and strain. I also deal with the issues of lateral earth pressure, slope stability, field testing, and advanced measurement techniques.
