The rapid development of Industry 4.0 technologies and their impact on the economy and social life demand from the engineers essentially new professional competencies and generic skills, necessitating a qualitative upgrade of engineering education, referred to as Education 4.0. Academic institutions working to implement Education 4.0 into their engineering programs are faced with a challenging question: What changes in the curriculum, laboratory facilities, and learning processes are needed to develop students’ competencies and skills that are required for Industry 4.0? Answering this question can only be done through practice of Education 4.0 and its pedagogical research. Over the last decade, our Technion Center for Robotics and Digital Technology Education has conducted a series of Education 4.0 case studies, conducted in different frameworks with different categories of learners. In this talk I will present some of these studies that seem most relevant for the new B.Sc. program “Industry 4.0” developed at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Braude College.
