Title: Zeta-functions and L-functions

Abstract
Zeta-functions and L-functions play an important role in various areas of mathematics such as number theory and representation theory. In this talk, I will start by describing the Riemann zeta function, its role in the analytic number theory and how this function can be interpreted in representation theoretic terms. I will then introduce the Langlands L-function, which is a generalization of the Riemann Zeta Function for irreducible representation of (adelic) reductive groups and talk about some interesting open problems and applications involving these L-functions.
