Dr. Gilead Fortuna
Dr. Fortuna has over 45 years’ experience in business development, strategy, and research and development, primarily in the technology, chemical engineering (including water treatment), and pharmaceutical sectors. He holds a BSc and MSc from Technion in Israel and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois. During his career, he has held president and CEO positions at subsidiaries of Israel Chemicals Ltd., a CTO of Israel Chemicals Industries Corporate, and senior business development roles at Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. In addition Fortuna is the cofounder of Aquise, a successful water treatment company in Israel, and the founder of Novetide, a very successful pharmaceutical company in Israel. Dr. Fortuna is an experienced director and board member, having served on the board at Rotem Amfert Negev Ltd., Bromine Group Ltd., and Enzymotec Ltd. until it floated on NASDAQ in 2013.
Currently, Dr. Fortuna serves as a Senior Research Fellow, Founder, and Head of the Center for Industrial Excellence at the Samuel Neaman Institute for National Policy Research. As part of this role, Dr. Fortuna is a consultant to Newtech, a government agency responsible for advancing Israel’s national water and energy program. Dr. Fortuna also serves as a director at Amiad Water Systems Company and on the board and the executive board of the Technion. In addition, he has acted as Visiting Professor in the Faculty of Engineering at the City University of New York.
