Abstract
Measuring causal influence between variables is a fundamental scientific problem, the common solutions to which are unsatisfactory for some fundamental reasons. We use Pearl’s mathematical formulation for causal influence to introduce a new approach for quantifying causal effect, and its advantages.
In this talk we will present the background of causal graphs and structural equation models, introduce the properties we believe a causal effect function should enjoy, and discuss old and new approaches for measuring causal influence.
No prior knowledge of causal influence is required.
